Speckled composition book for journal
Small hand sanitizer
Clear plastic container (shoe box size)--in place of pencil boxes
Multi-colored modeling clay

Test Schedule:

  • Spelling Tests – are given each Thursday
  • Spelling Story – is completed in class on Fridays (sometimes for a Reading grade)
  • Reading Tests – are given each Friday (includes vocabulary from the Open Court story that week)
  • Wordly Wise Tests – are given after every lesson (usually every 2 weeks)
  • Math – grades are taken from classwork after material has been covered and students have had sufficient practice
  • Science and Social Studies -  tests will be announced on the signed paper sheet that goes home every Friday

Reading List for the Fourth Grade, School Year 2009-2010:
First Semester Book Reports  Each student needs to choose 4 of the 12 books listed below and write a book report on them.  The book report should include: the title and author, setting (time and place), main characters, plot, and whether they recommend the book and why or why not.  An outline for the reports will be given the first day of school.  Their due dates are:  Sept. 11, Oct. 6, Nov. 6, and Dec. 11)

  Homework Policy

Homework is assigned to reinforce the skills taught in class. We suggest that homework be done at home, in a quiet place, away from noise and distractions. If time allows, fourth graders are encouraged to read each night to increase vocabulary and reading comprehension skills.
