SAT Registration and Score Reporting Information

Each student is responsible for registering for the SAT on dates that fit the individual’s personal schedule and that will insure there are sufficient opportunities to test. Parrott Academy cannot register students for the SAT. It is recommended that each student test twice in the junior year (during the second semester) and in October of the senior year. Remember, check with each college’s requirements concerning testing, including the SAT subject tests. Please see your Advisor or Guidance Counselor for help planning a workable testing schedule or if you have any problems registering.

You may set up your online account with the College Board by visiting www.collegeboard.com. You may do this at any time, but by doing so early, you will be able to take advantage of the wealth of information available such as college searches and the SAT Question of the Day. Once your account has been set up, you can register for the SAT, print your own admission ticket, send scores to colleges, and much more. Registering online also allows you to check your scores before the paper report is available and to follow up to see if scores were sent to colleges at your request.

When you register, be sure to use the same personal identifying information (full name, date of birth) each time. Failing to do so will establish different records for you and make it difficult to keep up with your SAT file. Be very sure to include Parrott Academy’s high school code each time (342067). This allows the school to receive your scores.  Having your scores helps us help you. It would be wise for you to start a file at home for all your score reports  (including PSAT).

Score Choice:  As of March, 2009, the College Board changed its policy on reporting scores to colleges. You will be able to select which scores you wish to submit. These must come from one test administration. For example, you may not combine your Critical Reading score from one test date and your Math score from another, but you could submit both sets of scores for the college to review. Please check each college’s policy with regard to Score Choice; some colleges may still request that all scores be submitted.

Score Choice is optional. If you choose not to use it, all your scores will be included on your score report sent to the colleges you designate. Most colleges look for your best scores, so in most cases, you really have nothing to lose by sending all scores.

Due to this change, Parrott Academy will no longer include SAT scores on a student’s high school transcript. It will be up to you to request that the College Board send the scores you select to the colleges of your choice.

SAT II (subject tests) - One hour tests in specific subjects. Most colleges do not require these for admission, however if you are taking an AP Exam in a certain subject, it would be a good time to also take the SAT II in that subject. Check with your teacher, advisor or counselor to find out more.

ACT Registration and Score Reporting Information

As with the SAT, students must register themselves for the ACT. Parrott Academy cannot do this for you. The writing section of the ACT is optional. It is not built into the test as with the SAT. Since most colleges are looking for a writing score, be sure to register for the ACT with Writing. The Parrott Academy high school code is 342067.

To report ACT scores to colleges, you must request that the report be sent directly from the ACT to the colleges you designate. ACT sends only scores from individual test dates, not a cumulative report from multiple tests. Parrott Academy cannot include scores on your transcript.

Please see your Advisor or Counselor for further information on the ACT.
